64 bit ?

Post by balduz »

Do you guys think a 64bit version of XDCC Catcher would make sense?

Yes I think it would make sense!

If I am not mistaken catcher keeps the packets in memory correct?

I know on my computer, running catcher for more then a day usual results in catcher taking up a ton of CPU usage or a ton of RAM, or even both.

Yes, its keeping them in memory in a hashlist. Everything you see in the packetslist, requests, and such are all pointing to the same hashlist info.. So should normally have a small memory footprint.

I just installed catcher on my laptop because it runs slow on my desktop computer. I am getting the same problem.

I currently have the following: Networks 21/23, Channels 118/145, Bots 1,326, Packs 602,513.

I'm thinking that the packet collecting has to be the issue because I don't get a slow down at first. Seems like the more packets that the program gathers the more sluggish it gets. As far as the screenshot, catcher takes anywhere from 25-45% CPU. If I am downloading something and trying to browse the search results, I pretty much give up due to it being sluggish.

I think it's just the number of packets. Once it gets that many I usually have to use the http server to search and download which usually works pretty good if I am searching exact search "one.night.in"

Thanks.. i'm busy redoing some of the code responsible for updating the packetslist. Which is indeed causing issues with CPU when lots of packets are found.

Downloaded 64Bit, had bugs. 32Bit seems to be working so far. I see a bug while searching something. After about 10 seconds the search list updates with non searched packets.

32Bit and 64Bit use the same codebase... Does the same happen when searching for something in the 32Bi version?
Also, can you also please create a bug report in the forum?

Thanks
